See a WhatsApp display name and profile picture
You can view the name and photo on a WhatsApp number when the person's privacy settings allow it. Here is how to do it, what stays hidden, and why bulk profile scrapers are a bad idea.
Save the number and open the chat
Add the number to your contacts and open WhatsApp. If their privacy allows it, you will see their display name, About line, and profile photo at the top of the chat or on their profile.
Open a click to chat link
Use a wa.me link to open a chat with the number without saving it. You can see whether the number is on WhatsApp, though the name and photo you see depend on the person's privacy settings.
Remember what privacy hides
WhatsApp lets people limit their profile photo, About, and last seen to their contacts only, or to nobody. If someone has set this, you will not see their photo or name even though the number is active. This is by design and cannot be bypassed safely.
A word on bulk profile scrapers
Tools that fetch names and photos for many unknown numbers run through unofficial WhatsApp access. That breaks WhatsApp's terms, risks a ban on the account doing it, and collects personal data without consent, which raises DPDP and privacy concerns. We deliberately do not offer one.

Why can't I see a profile photo?
Either the person set their photo to be visible to contacts only or to nobody, the number is not on WhatsApp, or you typed it without the correct country code. Check the format first, using the country code with no plus sign.
Does viewing a profile notify the person?
No. Looking at a profile, or opening a wa.me link, does not notify anyone. They only know you reached out if you send a message.
